Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) has been actively monitoring Hurricane Meli
ssa.

Hurricane Melissa is currently a Category 1 hurricane as it nears Bermuda.
The storm has already caused significant destruction across the Caribbean
, including Category 5 landfall in Jamaica and Category 3 landfall in Cu
ba earlier this week.

The Hurricane Watch Net (HWN) issued the following update (https://hwn.org /data/tcpat3.html) this morning at 11 am EDT:

"A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Bermuda. At 1100 AM EDT (1500 UTC)
, the centre of Hurricane Melissa was located near latitude 27.8 North
, longitude 71.7 West. Melissa is moving toward the north-northeast near
24 mph (39 km/h), and the hurricane is expected to continue acceleratin
g northeastward during the next couple of days. On the forecast track, t
he centre of Melissa is expected to pass to the northwest of Bermuda later
today and tonight."

Radio Amateurs of Canada urges all Canadian Amateur Radio operators to pro
tect the frequencies (https://www.rac.ca/hurricane-melissa-update-october- 30-2025/) currently being utilized for disaster response on HF (High Frequ ency). A list is provided on the RAC website (https://www.rac.ca/hurricane -melissa-update-october-30-2025/) .

It is vital that we maintain clear communication channels to assist those
affected during this critical time. Your cooperation in safeguarding thes
e frequencies is crucial for effective disaster response.
