Hey, How are you guys promoting your boards (or are you at all)?
Seems like there are a few places to put boards these days (Telnet
Guide, IPTIA, 8bit Boyz, etc) but other than mentioning it on a couple Facebook groups and the r/bbs subreddit on REddit, how else are you
getting folks to get back into or discover BBS in 2026?
Please excuse this old sysop for jumping back in time.
My first BBS opened (such that it is) in 1993 in a small town where all calls out of the town was long distance. In a country town with a population of 800 people. I used to fill out one of those 'notices' and pinned it up in the only local grocery store. I had around 6 people that dialed in on a regular basis.
Loved that Commodore 64. Today, there are hundreds (maybe thousands) of bbs's, all with the same message bases and door games, all accessible anywhere in the
world. I think I got one call last month.
Today, be original and a board that has a specialized topic. Advertise that topic and those interested will visit you. Don't forget your Taglines. :-)
