Diamond Dave's web site BBS Corner checks to see if they are still working.

I don't recognize any of those. My guess that they are long gone.

Does anyone clean up the WWIVNet list? I can volunteer if you need a hand. I just happen to run some sort of list.... :)

Although my network is down since I need to migrate to a 64 bit machine, I am still up and running...

Oh wow, that's neat. Does that mean I can get a host list from him?
Is he reading this, maybe? ;)

Oh ok. As per previous message, do you have some kind of checker and a host list? Obv disregard if you already answered.

Also, if not, how can we get a host list of all the boards subbed to WWIVnet?

I'd have to go through the list and then clean it up. Does Mark "Weatherman" maintain WWIVNet now? I'll ask him if I can go through the list.

I was hoping for an unadulterated list of all "subscribed"/joined boards as of right now.

For WWIVnet, Mark would be able to grep that from his logs, at least those that are members of WWIVnet and their last tosses.

As for the subs subscribed, as each board can host their own WWIVnet subscribable subs, that would be a litle tougher.

@ Weatherman, do you have any prebuilt scripts to pull this data from the pings and logs?

It would be nice to have the ability to see if a node has been offline for a period of time. Lets say >6 months. If a node has been down that long, we will assume they are gone and can be deleted.

Unfortunately I have no clean way to detect this other than WWIVnet packets growing endlessly. I don't know how long they have been offline.

I can send updates, yes. If you have the ability to tell if nodes have been offline for more than 6 months and send me that list, I'd be happy to remove them to clean things up.

It becomes an even larger challenge on the FTN side of things. I'm sure there are lots of FTN nodes that are no longer picking up packets. I just have no way to know how long it has been to guage when to delete them.

No, but I think if there is an online way to "ping" nodes over time, that would be helpful. Same with the FTN sode of things. The issue is the same. I have no way to know many long a node has been gone.

How do they do it? What's the mechanism?
