On the github page of WWIV, look for the error corrected in the source relating to not being able to read FTN's. It's a possible reason for the error. Another might be permissions set on the file directories within /opt/wwiv/net/fsxnet ... just a couple ideas I ran into in the past.

Good call, likely is the user running networkb can't create that file in that directory (so permissions issue like you said)

I'll try to fix my permissions. And if I have any obstacles, i'll post them.

    Do this:

    whoami
    ls -ld /opt/wwiv/net/fsxnet

This will tell you/us what your username is and then the owner and permissions of that directory.

    May as well also

    ls -ld /opt/wwiv/net/fsxnet/networkb

to see if it's already there.

Well that looks fine. Did you see if there's a 'networkb' already inside?

You said it's asking you for a password but you didn't set one. Just go ahead and set it. 'passwd wwiv' as root, or 'sudo passwd wwiv' as your user.
