• Telnet Terminal Question

From Patch #1@142.Wwivnet@11:1/101 to All on Sat Feb 15 23:03:16 2025

I'm just noticing that I am unable to connect to my own BBS using either Mystic's Netrunner or Synchronet's SyncTerm.

I can connect just fine using Qodem or Putty.

Since Putty connects I have to believe that it's not something generally on my end, but I could be wrong.

Can anyone else test that for me and see what they come up with? I don't want that to interrupt new users or network messages (both in and out).

Could it be the domain suffix being .cc instead of .Com or .net? Any help is certainly appreciated.

Strange, I use syncterm to connect to mine. What happens when you try? is the port wrong or something in syncterm?

That is odd. I use both Netrunner and Syncterm. Maybe make sure your IP address is not in the badip list .. make sure you're URL is mybbs.cc:1123 if youand 're using a non standard telnet port or mybbs.cc if it is 23. Protocol to Telnet, and IP Type to IPV4. Other then that it's been pretty straight forward. I mean, you could check your firewall and make sure you don't have anything funky going on there. If you have an older version of one of the two or both maybe update to the latest. For Netrunner (not sure about Syncterm) you can go to https://mysticbbs.com/downloads/prealpha/ and grab the prealpha's of netrunner. Maybe try reinstalling one of those.

I figured this one out. My ISP decided to block port 23 for most applications, when I presented the traceroute information, they took care of the issue.

So LOTW is now working with SyncTerm which is what I am using right now.

Believe it or not, it was an ISP issue. For some reason Qodem would allow me to connect where the others weren't. I connected to my vpn and did a traceroute and it was all over the place.

I submitted that dump to their technical team and within a day I could connect with those terminals again.

Why it would allow one to go through and not the others is still perplexing.
