If you're running on Linux, there's a tarball of WWIVEdit for Linux that the Synchro.net folk were able to compile. I will have to find it if it's in one of the drives I was able to recover.

The version I use is here: https://weather-station.org/wwiv/

I have several versions in there. I think the WWIVEdit30.rar is the one I modified years ago to add Pascal timeslicing code that Nick Andre shared with me from D'Bridge.

I also have an archive of ftp.wwiv.com which had a huge collection of doors, ANSIs, mods, etc. If I remember correctly, Frank Reid ran that site. Before it was taken down, I did a complete FTP archive of it.

Here's where you can download WWIVEdit compiled for Linux. http://doors.bbsdev.net/wedit.tgz

It needs a little love in setting up to work with WWIV 5 under Linux, but I've gotten it to work for the most part.

Mark, do you know if it's possible to run WWIVEdit30 on linux, launching from w/dosemu2?

It would be neat if we could compile WWIVEdit30 using FreePascal, just like what deuce of synchro.net did for WWIVEdit 2.5(?).

It would be cool if we could do that. Possible hints on doing this from our synchro.net friends here:

    http://wiki.synchro.net/howto:editor:wwivedit

It details WWIVEdit DOS Version 2.5 under DOSEmu setup for synchronet, but I suspect WWIVEdit 3.0 would work too.

Is there a zip with the 3.0 Pascal source? I've only been able to find 2.5...

Now I'm intrigued! Amazon ECS for Windows and DOS sessions for the WWIV 5?

eComStation (ECS) (which is basically a more recent OS/2), but different from ArcaOS. I have been using eComStation for my BBS nodes ever since bringing back my classic system.

I want to make a refined DOS version of 4.3. Put some mods that marginally reduce the exe size/dgroup. Then run ArcaOS to run the bbs.

My classic system is sort of like that. It is 4.23a mainly, but has lots of 4.3 code inside, external strings to lower dgroup, etc.

I tested running it on ArcaOS and kept running into issues with the networking occationally freezing the entire system. OS/2's weak spot has always been networking, which at least eCommstation seems to have done a better job using the open source version of samba.

The only issues I have on rare occations is likely related to the SIO drivers where the telnet will get hung up here and there from hacking attempts. I have it moderately locked down - only (1) connection per IP, auto blocking, etc, which greatly reduced the issues.

Should I just connect to the BBS and have access to those things? I wonder how mahy of WeaponX ANSI's he had on there <ahem> =)

I'd love to see the collection if I can.
