I've been running Virtual Advanced BBS since the mid 90s when WWIVnet died. It was then that I left WWIV and started with Virtual Advanced BBS since their network was still viable. VADV bbs was great in that Steve Winn was heavily involved with it and was starting a colaboration network "AspectNet" with Eli that would connect the two, WWIVnet and VirtualNet. It was great in that it was a union between the two "orphaned" networks to survive. This was before the changeover to make WWIVnet FTN based. Eli was heavily involved to get WWIVnet started again and he convinced me to start my old WWIV board up again "Mysteria Majicka" and he helped me install the new WWIVnet protocols. Today, WWIVnet is not working for me due to having archaic WWIV networking protocols. I am running both WWIV and Virtual Advanced BBS software. Just recently Steve Winn of AT2K bbs has somewhat disappeared. He is a new dad and has other issues. Iam still running Virtual Advanced BBS and my VirtualNet networking is solid and active. Perhaps there are four of us left. VADV software was developed by Roland Degraffe who was a brillant programmer and lost his eyesight. He has a built in FTN program that I can perhaps use to incorperate WWIVnet now that this has been developed. I might try to install WWIVnet on my Virtual Advanced board and detail the process on the Facebook VADV sight. Steve Winn left me as the moderator for this and, I feel somewhat incompetent since I am not a programmer but I have inherited this legacy. My mission, if I wish to accept it is, to install WWIVnet into my Virtual Advanced bbs and leave details of my process for others to participate. After all.... Virtual Advanced BBS was initially designed as a "door" bbs for WWIV. They are intertwined and share much history. To be continued....
