• Error Parsing BBSlist

From Patch@11:1/102 to All on Fri Apr 12 22:10:24 2024
I'm attempting to pull information on the internet together so that I can
    gain access to WWIVnet.

I found WWIVnet Github and was able to download the files (12 in total; sorry
I don't know how to use Github correctly) and placed those files in the 'wwivnet' folder.

I navigate back to /wwiv/ and attempt to run ./network3 y and I receive the following error:

    798 ERROR ERROR: bbslist.net didn't parse.

    What am I doing wrong?

Have you reached out to Mark for a node number etc..? He's 1@1.wwivnet or you can email him directly using his link from his website contact/info tab at http://www.weather-station.org

It's been ages since I've set up wwivnet, but the process should be pretty easy.

Set up the network via wwivconfig, I like to use a path similar to wwiv\networks\wwivnet
and then place all of the network files there, then run the network3. Judging by your path though, are you running Linux?

Yeah I did, but he's busy with things and suggested that I connect with the community for answers.

BUT, I figured out what the issue was and was able to transmit an email and request my first message subscription.

Thank you for replying. It's been really quiet around here lately and I'm hoping that the BBS Community isn't dying out.

    Great to hear!

While there are bursts of activity followed by gaps of silence, we actually seem to be growing. Great to have you connected!

What was the hiccup? Maybe your experience can help others?

    J..
