    AI-WX Weather Door

Sysops, a new version of the AI-WX Weather Door is available on my BBS at firesidebbs.com telnet port 23231 or the website at firesidebbs.com. AI-WX gives your BBS the ability to give your users hi-res Sixel graphics based animated radar. Version 1.2 fixes a few issues reported by users.

*Colors not displaying properly on the Linux version when the user is connecting with NetRunner terminal. Fixes improper screen clearing under the same scenario.

The new version has many UI enhancements and also provide a slew of new command line options that allow you to seamless integrate weather into the regular menus of your BBS. By leveraging Synchronet and Mystic's ability to pass the IP address into the bbs you can now create menu options on your BBS that make calls into functions of AI-WX to display weather data. So you could have a BBS menu thats displays...

    (C)heck Wx Alerts
    (R)adar
    (E)xtended Forecast

...your BBS would then call AI-WX with the appropriate command line option to display these for the current user's location and then it would exit back out to the BBS menu. You could also check for any weather alerts for a user as part of your normal login/welcome flow. It would seem like a seamless integration into the BBS software itself for the user.

You can also pass in the longitude/latitude of a static location to display any of AI-WX's weather functions. So you could display weather or radar for some places like the Eiffel Tower, Allianz Stadium, or the next football game or rocket launch etc.

You can check some of these options out by visiting the support BBS at firesidebbs.com telnet:23231. Any BBS terminal will work, but SyncTerm or ICYTerm will allow you to view the hi-res Sixel radar. The 100% pure ANSI radar is still an option for other terminals and quite impressive in itself.

    Thanks for your time folks,

    Lonewolf
