    RE: ASCII boards

    Fellas, I've really enjoyed the text based ASCII simplicity of this board.
    It elicits an nice easy feel. The Fozztexx Level29 is similar although a bit less easy to use. Any other boards I should be checking out? Is this a
    general style/feel that exist on all the WWIV BBSes ?

    Not too many out there go all-out ASCII. The Amiga and Atari ones do, but they also add in color when possible. There is at least one Amiga and one Atari ST board in the BBS list and the logoff screen, but I can probably think of a couple more. The custom boards like Level29 are good for ASCII, too.. Mutiny:Community (mutinybbs.com:2300) for example.

    Been wanting to make a good ASCII art gallery for a while :).

    I recall XQTR making a full non color ascii theme for Another Droid BBS. I don't recall checking it out. I do need to give your BBS a call again. I don't think I had the theme to full ASCII, I belive there was color? Dunno. There are a few C-Net Boards out there that are mostly ASCII without color: Hacki Shack, Heights BBS, Bucko's Den has a splash of color here and there but man it's a great basic C-Net BBS blast from the past. Is Darklords Atari ST BBS still up? I think his name was Darklord. I know some like the full retro experience to include full ASCII greyscale with 300 baud speeds, but man, some of the really retro BBS systems up I need a bit of time to call. They are worth it though.

    Yes, DarkLord's BBS is still up. It is DarkForce BBS at darkforcebbs.dyndns.org:1040.

    Yes! Darkforce! is still up and running. darkforce-bbs.dyndns.org:1040 I think it is. There's another BBS that has good ASCII called the Odd Network but I don't remember the address off the top of my head. Will have to post it later.
