It's high humidity time here on Cape Cod. 96% humidity with airconditioned refuge. I would like some cool nights please. I'm sure that other's have it worse than we do given the daily news reports.

Get yerself a HiSense or Medea brand dehumidifier. Sometimes the humidity here gets unusually high inside, and one of those does wonders. When I've got it on, I toss something like 3 gallons of water pulled out of the air every 6 hours.

I think we do have a dehumidifier somewhere in the basement. Our heat pump extracts water too. My dilemma is that my wife is half Scots and half Jewish and sees $$$ signs anything electical is turned on despite the fact that I pay her for my share of mortgage and utilities (she owns the house). Not to mention she is a hard core Cape Codder and thinks that the windows should be wide open all summer. Marriage is a political issue! You get fucked just to get fucked sometimes :O

In St. Louis we have always been used to hot, humid summers - but this one really took the cake. Absolutely no breaks all summer long. Just constant humidity and heat. So many days where the heat index was above 110+

Something is definitely wrong/changed with our climate...

Indeed. We finally got some rain last night after literally a couple of months with nothing more than a few spots on the floor. I guess that's not too novel for a lot of folk but I live in Wales, one of the most notoriously rainy places on earth. We don't top the rainfall charts but it usually makes sure to spread the rain we do have across most of the year :)

The whole of the UK is built on the assumption it basically never goes above 30C and if it does then just wait until the evening and it'll come back down so when we had the heatwave at the start of it all and it was 35C overnight it wasn't much fun. Basically nobody has air con here due to lack of interest - I think that might change in the near future.

Same as you described - just no let-up and people got bored of that FAST.

I don't know if this percentage figure is accurate yet, they reported that the glacial flood in Nepal was caused by a significant loss of ice; that Nepal has lost 30% of ice from this one particular glacier in the last 30 years. I know that historically this type of thing has been going on since the beginning of time. Why even Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vinyard were formed by a giant glacial deposit off of the coase of Northern America. Yet perhaps people should not build in vulnerable places? Anyhow, this was a global warming event/catastrophe.

The issue is, this is only the beginning - or "the tip of the iceberg" for a bad pun. Scientists have been warning about this for decades, but we've largely ignored them in the name of $$$.
