Anyone taken an Alaskan cruise before? Wondering how your experience was, if so.

Yes, I have taken an Alaskan cruise. We went in August. I am not sure if that was the best time or not. We started in Seattle and went to Juneau, Kitchikan, Skagway, and Victoria, British Columbia. It was the "Alaskan Adventure" on the Voyager of the Seas from Royal Caribbean.
We were with a group of friends, so that made it nice. We did not do all the excursions they did, but my wife and I had a good time. It was quite rainy at the time we went. For example, the salmon should have been running but the river was running so hard, they were not. We did see an old gold mining town and cemetery. We also saw the glacier. What we did not see were the icebergs - it was too foggy to get the ship in to the area, so they did not take us. That was disappointing.

My wife and I spent our first ever cruise on a cruise that went in and out of Juneau in August 2025 on American Cruise Lines.

Needless to say that was AWESOME! It was a very fun time. Even though it was August, it was still very cold. Bring a heavy coat!

American Cruise Lines are famous for VERY small ships. Our ship was only around 150 passengers.

Highly recommended. And if you want to spring for the land excursions to Denali, I'd recommend that. We didn't do it, and in retrospect I wish we had.

But definitely go on a cruise off the Southeast Coast of Alaska out of Juneau.
