Angel's Envy is good as well. I am still learning my bourbons. I have a distillery just down the road from me (like 4 houses) and I have become
very fond of it their bourbons. Their Bottled In Bond is my favorite -
on the rocks. Their rye is good as well. The name of the distillery is Filibusters, located in Maurertown, VA. Not sure if you can order online
    or anything like that.

Difficult to find much other than common name brands here.

My daughter in LA is engaged and they are actively trying for children as we speak. His Jewish mother is hoping for a big wedding yet the kids just want to go to Costa Rica and get away from the rhetoric. My daughter in Montana is living with a fireman for the park service who, as an essential worker, has managed to keep his job. I suspect there is a race going on to see who will become a mother first. I've told them that their biological clocks are ticking and they understand. This is what happens when you become involved in a career. I believe 2026 will be my "grandfather" year. Both SIL's are wonderful. No BS, serious, devoted. Who can ask for more?

What's a good bourbon that is priced close to Jimmy Beam yet is somewhat better and not as sweet?

I have only had their bourbon. I will have to try their rye. Thanks for the suggestion.

That is good to hear! It is always good to have good in-laws. And, when you get the title "grandpa" (or whatever your name will be), it will be time to raise a glass of bourbon and toast the new addition!

You can usually get Templeton Rye on sale for a decent price.

Can you find Lost Republic, Bardstown, Buffalo Trait or Basil Hayden out your way? Those are a few of my favorites.

Jim Beam is pretty low end stuff, not sure if you can find a good burbon in that price range Maybe Four Roses?

Have you tried any Ryes? They have a similar flavor profile as Burbon and are great for a nice Manhattan or Old Fashioned.

I was at my daughters home yesterday, visiting my 8-day old grandsun and noticed that my Son in law still had the bottle of Blue Label I gave him when grandson #1 arrived. So.. Yes, we both enjoyed a glass. gotta hand it to him! I'm not sure Blue Label would last over 2 years in my household. Althought I do have about one glass left from my Talisker 30 my son gave me in 2019.

    Agreed!

One of my favorites for cocktails based on either Burbon or Rye.

Yes! It's too sweet and in the "cough medicine" category. Thanks for the input. Your SIL has a good FIL?
