So I had this vivid dream last night that I was stranded somewhere and was rescued by Eli Sandford who said he would take me home. I remember that he was
taking me to Maryland yet he inadvertently brought me to his house on the East
Coast and asked if I wanted to go fishing. I passed on the offer because both
he and his father was morbidly obese and I didn't want to be seen with them :O

Eli once came to Maryland to bust ghosts by peeing on them. Okay, not really,
that was an obscure audio bit created after an even more obscure radio conversation.
I don't think his NC house was actually on the coast. In fact, he preferred to
be obscurbed in the trees in the backwoods and on more than one occasion share
a realtor listing for an underground bunker somewhere...
If it wasn't for Eli, I wouldn't have gone back to WWIV. He helped me
with the networking and it's his "One Liners" that he coded on the front end.
Here too. When I first resurrected my BBS, he reached out to me andYeah, it was a struggle to get networking software in the beginning of the 2nd generation.
asked me to join his other net - I wisk I could remember the name of
it.. Was only there for a year or so before he got the OK to use the
name WWIVnet. Hwew we are some 15 years later and we're still going
strong! It probably wouldn't have happened had it not been for Eli.

I was running a VADV board, Mysteria Majicka which carried the network and Steve Winn configured an FTP batch to toss messages. It's now VirtualNet and Steve is the NC.

I'm hoping to bring my board back online. Well, technically, it's been online all along, but I'm making time to do some maintenance on it now. What I now have at https://bbs.wwiv.net (and https://bbsdoors.com) is running under Ubuntu 26.04.01. I've got a few doors working. Now that I have a somewhat repeatable process, I'll migrate the rest of the doorsLet us know when you do. Will it be completely new or will you use your previous incarnation? to the system.
I hope also to reintroduce file transfers back to the mix. I think there are probably some neat ways to generate dynamic file transfer listings
and make sharing easier within the browser. I used to do something
similar with an app I wrote to parse the directories and create
FILES.BBS type listings that were FTP links, but I think it can be done differently and better today.)
