Hey everyone, checking in to say hi and that I'm still here. Just been working on lots of projects and general life stuff.
Behind the scenes, I upgraded my ESXi infrastructure hardware about two weeks ago (finally). I bought new guts for my Supermicro servers back in March and finally did the swap on one of the servers.
Things are now running on the same Supermicro server, but with an X11 motherboard, 512G of RAM, and (2) Xeon Gold 6230 20-cores each CPUs.
I also swapped LSI controllers to a 9361-8i, and added (10) 1TB SSD drives, along with my (8) 14TB spinners.
The upgrade was overdue and I need to do the same to the other (2) servers I have soon as well. I had purchased 1TB of DDR4 server RAM back in March for $650 (a steal), which is what I'm using between the two main ESXi servers.
To keep thjem cool and quiet, I used several tie-wraps and Nashua 60mm fans strapped to each CPU passive cooler. It works perfect!
