I made my experiment/prototype of wwiv5autosend available on github.
See: https://github.com/ericpareja/wwiv5autosend
So far, I've implemented:
1) Subscription List per Sub
2) Subs Hosted Here Posting to YELLOW
I'm writing a lot of it from scratch, learning a bit more about how to use parts of the WWIV SDK in the process. My C++ isn't extensive, so the code
is not the best it can be yet. :)
Nice! One thing that I wish the original AutoSend would do is allow new subscribers to get "all" the messages from the sub on the host's system.
The original version would allow up to (I think) 20 old messages in
history to go out. These days we could say allow all with no impact in
most cases. I keep 10k messages here per sub with no issues.
This is possible, with disk space being the limit and the 65,535 maximum number of posts on WWIV message areas using storage type 2.
The impact would be on the transfer method and disk space available. The range of original AutoSend in resending is 5-20 messages.
