GITMachine is finally cooking with Gas (and FTN's!) Thanks for your help getting WWIV working right with Linux Mint! Compiled and tested and it's reading ZeroNet mesages without hanging up now, much appreciated!

Yeah I could .. I have it on two other BBSes, but don't post there often. Trying to keep this BBS more WWIV based. ZeroNet complimented what GITMachine doesn't have :) Besides, who needs fsxnet when we have WWIVnet ! haha.

Thanks for the details on the bug, once it was easy to reproduce I could fix it. Let me know of any other quirks like that, linux mint is using a newer gcc (13 specifically) than the debian and ubunutu's that we're using elsewhere) so possible to have other issues.

I had never heard of it before, it's a nice looking distro. At first I was concerned that it was super slow, but then I realied I only alocated 768M of ram to the VM and not 8000M ram, which explains the performance issue :)

I would love Gating so I could put certain message boards into ftn format. But I might need to run Talisman to do that perhaps.

Yes Mint really is a nice distro. I used to run Ubuntu but found it to be a bit heavy on the GUI side; Mint is super nice and easy to customize and use. It's a great daily driver and for those newer to Linux. Those more familiar with CLI seem to really like Mint also.

The one really "Nice to have" features I see wishing for WWIV in the future are all on github. Cough: Maybe someone could steer me toward how to remove asking for a file description for every file during a //upload, and also how to get text/ansi to upload into posts again (which seems to not be working ..) Otherwise only two issues specifically relating to Mint and WWIV so far, you've fixed both so big thanks, again.

Net37 documentation has good information on copying FTN to WWIV and WWIV to FTN packets that might get you going in the right direction. Talisman and I'm assuming others make a great bridge between the without abandoning the WWIV BBS. We have GHOSTnet setup where FTN SysOps are calling an SBBS server, SBBS server pushing packets to Talisman, Talisman pushing packets to WWIV, each in their own respective formats. Apam can speak more to how it all works specifically.

Would you want it to just use for fileid.diz? If so, maybe put a breakpoint in where it asks for it? Then look at what we do inside of networkt for handling tic files or fileid.diz elsewhere.

I think I hit A again instead of W. Short answer this time, yes the fileid.diz without any prompt other than maybe "This directory only or all directories?" would be great. I tend to mass upload a couple hundred to thousand files a ta time on my BBSes and would like to move as many as possible from The Underground over to GITMachine as time permits. I'm sure others would appreciate the feature too.
