If you can work your way through this dreadful, painful eye candy the
    underlining facts are very interesting.

WasnrCOt low road speeds why London got the Underground in the first place?

(By the way, you can get rid of the eye candy if using Firefox by using
the "Reader view" option in the address bar, or F9 on some computers).

I use buses in London quite often now that I'm getting older and less willing to walk long distances, and it helps that I'm now old enough to qualify for a bus pass.

Speeds are clearly decreasing because of congestion, often caused by junctions and traffic lights poorly designed (by TfL I assume). We
often get a bus outside City Thameslink (south) go to west along the
Fleet St and the Strand. The bus immediately has to go through the
lights at the Blackfriars Road junction, which often takes many minutes because of much higher priority given to N-S traffic than that going E-W.

And no signal priority for scheduled buses?
