Can't see how they'll do it unless they cut down the number of roads and
join them up much closer to the station but if you look on google maps
you'll see there's very little room to play with.

The project involves excavating to formation level and installing new
track. The existing seven sidings are being upgraded to accommodate the new >Piccadilly line trains, which feature walk-through carriages and are longer >than the current fleet.

Maybe for one or two roads, not all of them.

Could be.

Wonder if it'll go back to the train cabs being in tunnel at stations again now that platform monitors have been replaced by in cab monitors.

IrCOm not sure, but itrCOs possible.
Incidentally, the 59TS trains were 112m long, vs the 24TS 113.7m. So, >assuming the sidings were laid out for the 59TS, they wonrCOt need much >rejigging to fit the slightly longer new trains.

rejigging to fit the slightly longer new trains.
Thats a good point. So I wonder what they're up to? Maybe just taking the opportunity to reballast and reset the tracks.

I suspect itrCOs a complete track replacement. The existing tracks have >probably been there for at least 60 years, and are due to be replaced, and >this is a good opportunity to replace both the track and the points. It may >also serve to make it easier to install the desperately-needed new

Given the EL does it at paddington there's no technical reason it couldn't
be done but AFAIK LU hasn't implemented that anywhere on the other ATO lines but I could be wrong.

No they don't. There was something I watched a few months back that focused on the victoria line depot - can't remember if it was youtube or on TV - and the trains are driven manually to and from the tunnel portal.

Yes, so it seems. Perhaps it was only a proposal that never came to
fruition?

Given the people wandering around the depot and the trains having no
obstacle detection I doubt it was ever seriously considered, would be far
too dangerous. With arnos grove sidings though I can't imagine staff wander around them unless they're drivers going to their train so maybe it could work there.

I wonder what the workflow is there? A driver takes a train in thatrCOs >going to sit there for a few hours, but where does the driver go? Is there
a crew depot there? Or do they walk back to the station? That seems >unlikely. And when itrCOs time to bring the train back into service, where >does the driver come from?
