• TfL useless as usual

We made the mistake of going up to london on the same day as the football
apes going to celebrate arsenal losing yesterday, or whatever. Naturally
TfL closed a whole load of stations including finsbury park with sod all information on the tube status page. We didn't find out about it until we
were on a victoria line train when we could have taken a non tube route
    home instead.

    The TfL newsletter had said:

From 14:00 until 16:00 on Sunday 31 May, an Arsenal victory parade will
take place, starting and finishing at the Emirates Stadium via Holloway
Road, Seven Sisters Road, Blackstock Road, Green Lanes, Essex Road,
Islington Green, Upper Street, Highbury Corner and back via Holloway Road.

Extensive road closures and bus diversions will be in place along the event route, with extremely large crowds expected in addition to local traffic
    delays outside the parade route.

Victoria, Piccadilly, Mildmay and Windrush line services are expected to be very busy. Some stations within the event area may operate as exit-only or close for periods before and after the parade to prevent overcrowding.
Allow more time for your journey.

To avoid queues, customers are advised to use alternative stations outside
the immediate event area, such as Manor House, Archway, Angel or King's
Cross St Pancras, where it will be quicker to board train services.

Ah , the TfL newsletter, of course, I must try and subscribe. And there was silly me thinking the "live" status page might have mentioned it at the time
or maybe - god forbid - a station announcement being made to the same effect.
