I'm surprised Khan has the time to bother himself with mere london issues
these days what with his round the world grandstanding and commenting on geopolitical issues that have nothing to do with his role.

Clearly there's been a big fuckup somewhere with the design of this train or they'd tell us what the issue was. Also from the side these are probably the ugliest trains LU has commissioned since the 83 stock. The tiny windows are hideous not to mention giving poor visibility for passengers.

I think at least one of the problems is clearance issues with the
platforms, and possibly some tunnels, as the new, articulated trains are slightly wider. TheyrCOve had to do months of fettling the infrastructure before test running could recently commence.

It seems that there are also issues with the trains themselves, which
Siemens will have to rectify. Finally, there may also be depot issues to
sort out. So they wonrCOt be entering service for at least another year.

Unfortunately, the life-expired 50-year-old 73s are knackered, and some are already going for scrap. So expect reduced services and more train failures over the next 12 months.

Only 3/4 inch wider if you believe wonkypedia. Could be its more a case of profile rather than ultimate width, the same reason the 2006 stock can't
be hauled on the picc. Wonder if the latter situation will change after this.

The service has been dreadful for years, I'm not sure anyone would notice.
You can stand at finsbury park waiting for a picc train and literally have
4 or 5 victoria line trains call at the opposite platform in the meantime
when the picc supposedly is running with a normal service.

Yes, probably the profile, rather than the maximum width.

Well, itrCOs likely to get worse over the next year. At this stage, they donrCOt want to overhaul or do major work on any of the old trains, so as
they get due for major exams, or if anything major fails, they get retired.
The 72 stock on the Bakerloo has been like that for a while.

It must take a lot of skill to reverse that low loader down a narrow lane,
    then round a tight corner!

I imagine the drivers who haul those oversized loads are the best in the business.

Yup, he certainly seemed to know what he was doing. Sometimes thererCOs
another guy on the ground, remotely controlling the rear wheel steering on
    the trailer.
