• Rubbish Routemasters

We went on a (not so) new routemaster yesterday for about a mile. The engine/generator didn't switch off for a single second. I see this overpriced red elephants haven't been improved over the years. I wonder how long before they're sold off cheap just to get rid of them and replaced with electric buses.

A prototype electric conversion was shown off three years ago. ItrCOs cheaper than an all-new electric bus, but I think the range is less, which would
limit its operational flexibility. IrCOve not heard of any production orders.

150 miles is a bit low but I guess they can't just magic up underfloor space
to put extra batteries in. It'll be whatever they can squeeze into where the engine was. Also I'll bet it adds a few tons to the weight.

TheyrCOre already very heavy buses, so that might further restrict the weight of batteries that can be installed.
