I can't get the PIN to work on my phone.

Thinking of putting of transferring the SIM card to another phone - is
it the phone that is locked or the SIM card?

If itrCOs the SIM, try the Pin Unblock Key. It might be written on the SIM,
or with the documentation that came with it. Alternatively, try a phone
    shop that handles your network.

I managed to remember my PIN later!

I got out an old phone in case I needed to that but could not remember
its password, does not matter now but must work it out in case needed in
    the future
