  • TP-Link Archer MR600 router, free.fr, IPV6 configuration - how?

    I am trying to get a TP-Link Archer MR600 (V2) router working in IPV6
    mode with a Free.fr SIM. I'm not having much success at present.

    I'm in France on our little boat which is where the MR600 is installed.

    It works perfectly well in IPV4 mode (it's how I'm connected now) but
    if I change the PDP Type to IPV6 it simply stops working. If I set
    the PDP Type to IPV4 & IPV6 then the router connects but I only get
    IPV4 addresses on my connected laptop.

    The laptop does work with an IPV6 router, when connected to our
    network at home it has both IPV4 and IPV6 addresses. (and the IPV6
    addresses are real, routable ones, not just FE80 prefix ones).

    The MR600 does allow one to play about with the Internet settings,
    i.e. one can change/set the following:-

    Network Search:

    Profile Name:
    PDP Type:
    APN:
    Username:
    Password:
    Authentication Type:

    On the working IPV4 connection the APN is 'free' and Authentication
    Type is 'CHAP'. PDP Type is (obviously) IPV4.


    I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to try next. Free's free.fr mobile
    network does definitely support IPV6 and 'since 2024 it has been
    enabled by default'. I've had the SIM for quite a long time now,
    could it be that I need to get IPV6 enabled? If so, how? Whenever I
    search around on the Free web site all I ever find is it telling me
    that IPV6 is enabled by default.

    Any ideas how I can progress this would be very welcome.
