I need an unlimited, but not necessarily fast, mobile broadband sim
card. I download a lot of videos (mainly news and German "Krimi",
Tatort, etc), I don't stream them. I download them with yt-dlp and I
    watch them later.

    I reckon it's about 5Gb a day, so 150Gb a month. Thanks.

Giffgaff do a monthly rolling plan (not contract):
    Unlimited for -u35 a month
    300GB for -u20 a month
    150GB for -u15 a month

You can switch plans whenever you like - no contract, cancel at any time.

Or with an 18 month contract, it's -u25, -u15, and -u12 respectively, agains switching plans whenever you like.

"Top UK providers for pay-monthly unlimited data contracts include
Three, SMARTY, Vodafone, O2, Tesco Mobile, and Giffgaff, often featuring
5G, no speed caps, and, in some cases, flexible 30-day rolling
contracts. Prices start around -u9--u12/month for SIM-only, with options
for 12 or 24-month terms." [Examples follow]

For myself, I'm with idMobile paying -u15pm for unlimited everything via
a SIM in my router (landlines are pretty much useless around here).

    Two points:
3 is now merged with Vodafone and the indications are that when fully
    merged both SPs will be able to use each other's sites;
It is MVNO - Mobile Virtual Network Operator.
