• Topping up an EE data-only SIM

I have a ZTE MiFi device with an EE PAYG sim with a zero balance.
Short of putting it in a phone I can think of no way of topping it up. Attempting to do so on WiFi fails, because it insists on using mobile
data. Understandably. But you can't access the top-up pages with no
    data allowance remaining!

I've tried to top up from another device online, and to register a
card for text-based topup, but it seems that I failed to copy/past the
last digit of the phone number when I captured it, and the device's
web interface doesn't see to want to tell me that.

    Anyone have an insight?

The easiest way is probably online with a My EE account.

Apparently if you text NUMBER to 150 it'll tell you your number. If your
mobile broadband software doesn't let you do that, you could put the SIM in
    a phone to do it.

Once you have the number, you can top up 'someone else's mobile' using a
card, without having to create an account: https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/manage-use/pay-as-you-go/top-up-my-phone#article-heading-6

I'll try that - if it'll let me text with a zero balance.

They seem to need you to use your device, which doesn't work as I'm
out of credit, or the device's phone number, which I don't have.

    I'll try again.
