I'm using a circa 2014 US Government surplus Dell laptop. I bought it
dirt cheap about a year ago, and refurbished it myself. I have maybe
$100 into it and parts. I installed Windows 7, maybe I shouldn't have,
but it's still working adequately. Once Windows 7 finally becomes
unusable, I think that I'll finally learn Linux. Windows 10 is already >depreciated, but I didn't like it from the start, and I bet 11 is worse.

I bought an Dell laptop to program hearing aids in the field. It must have been
an awesome machine in its day. You could replace the drives and replace them with
secondary batteries. Way cool. Unfortunately, running Windows 10 was way out of
its job description. It took forever to boot up and would try to do an update >most times that I booted it up. It pretty much made me look like a big dope >every time I tried to program an aid. A man in my position can't afford to look
stupid.
I tried to load up ChromeOS Flex on the Dell but that didn't work. That's okay,
that thing is too slow, too heavy, and too power hungry. The thing lasted about
30 minutes even with a secondary battery. That's a shame, it was probably a very
impressive product back in the day. Of course, so was I.
