• Using F8Lure with a FRITZ!Box 7530 AX

    From Graham J@nobody@nowhere.co.uk to uk.telecom.broadband on Mon Jun 8 09:08:19 2026

I've written here before about the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX as typically
supplied by Zen Internet and F8Lure, see:

    <https://f8lure.mouselike.org/auth.asp>

The problem was that these routers did not reliably respond to pings
    from the internet.

But since a firmware update of around 14 May which upgraded these
routers from FRITZ!OS version 8.20 to FRITZ!OS version 8.25 all the
Fritz's I monitor have responded to pings from the internet. So it's
now possible to monitor these connections using F8Lure.

I complained to the manufacturers about this a few years ago, so it
would seem that they did listen!

You mean the computer didn't say 'NO!'?

Point of interest, does the unit self upgrade the OS or is it necessary
to download the new file and blow it into the unit.

Thinking of getting one (2nd hand) to replace my Archer D2 as - apart
from other functions - will allow a much longer list of reserved
    addresses (don't ask!)

You can set it to notify, notify and install essential updates, notify
    and install all updates

Mine installs updates and then notifies me of the fact.
