• Roberts Stream 94i

Anyone know much about the Roberts Stream 94i?

I have had one for quite a few years and tended use in the bedroom, controlling it from UNDOK on my tablet.

A few weeks ago UNDOK stopped worked so after trying various settings, I
did a Factory Reset. That seemed to fix it but the radio has died now,
it flips between the displaying showing the clock at midnight, the clock showing correct time and the Stream 94i logo.

I can't get to the menus to do a Factory Reset again - is there any way
of doing a reset from few keys on the radio itself?

I only have a small portable radio with poor sound quality so I think I
am going to have to look for something a bit better than that.

I have the older 93i which is probably similar. Here are the manual instructions.

    Factory reset
If you wish to completely reset your sound system to its initial state
this may be performed by following this procedure. By performing a
factory reset, all user entered settings will be erased.
    1. Access the menu for the current mode by pressing the Menu button.
Rotate the Tuning/Select control to highlight the 'Main menu' option,
then press the control to select.
    2. Rotate the Tuning/Select control until 'System settings' is
highlighted and then press the control to select.
    3. Rotate the Tuning/Select control until 'Factory Reset' is
highlighted and then press the control. Rotate the Tuning/Select control
    and highlight 'YES' to proceed.
If you do not wish to carry out a system reset, highlight 'NO' and
then press the control. The display will revert to the previous menu.
    4. With 'YES' highlighted, press the Tuning/Select control. A
full reset will be performed and the sound system will restart
as if N4U rst plugged in. The DAB stations list together with any
preset stations will be erased and your wireless network connection
details will be lost. All conN4Uguration settings will be restored
to their defaults, the clock and alarms will be reset.

I can't get the menu, it just cycles around several screens.

They no longer stock the 95i but it is available from John Lewes. I
tried asked Roberts if the 94i battery is compatible with it but not had
    an answer.

If you haven't already remove the battery, unplug from mains and leave
for about 15 min. Not a factory reset but ensures a clean boot.

I unplugged the lead from the battery to the main set so that should do
the same. It has been left like that for a few days so trying to put
some charge into the battery - at the moment the clock is stuck on 00:00.

I have a had a reply from Roberts.

I don't think I will be getting the 95i, it is a pity because I liked
the 94i. The 95i seems to have a lot of limitations and get many poor reviews.

    Got my Roberts 95i today.

Nice sound from it etc but they appeared to have dropped the Roberts
Radio App that they mention in the instructions.

Not managed to connect to WiFi or BT yet.

Seems impossible to connect to WiFi now.

Pressing the button gets a message to follow the instructions in the 'companion App' - but the App has been discontinued!

Does the radio not have a method of manually selecting the WiFi network and then entering the password?

I would really like to know if the 95i uses a proper Internet radio

if they drop it would be disaster for my 93i and all the other proper

DonrCOt all Internet radios depend on a third party site? They have to get their channel lists from somewhere and they donrCOt have enough brain power

Ah - I've never owned one. I suppose I thought that either they had a

Agreed; if you're going to rely on a third-party site anyway, you don't
want to insert yet another intervening "app.", especially one that is on

Yes, provided the portal has an option to add personal streams you do it
(from a PC, phone, etc) via its website. Available with both the
previous and current portals used by Roberts.

Note that the radio will work without linking a (free) portal account to
your radio and using their website. However, its much easier to select channels, manage favourites, etc from a PC.

Yes, provided the portal has an option to add personal streams you do it (from a PC, phone, etc) via its website. Available with both the

When you say "via its website", you mean the radio appears as a website

Note that the radio will work without linking a (free) portal account to your radio and using their website. However, its much easier to select channels, manage favourites, etc from a PC.

I presume things like "Alexa: play Radio 4" have reduced the sale of
internet radios. Though if you already have one when you get your smart speaker, you can say "Alexa: send the address of Bratislava Jazz to my
    internet radio".

I very rarely (if ever) use my old Roberts Stream 94i on Internet
stations. Most of the time I used it on DAB.

One thing that I have noticed several times with the 95i, it has turned
itself off when I have been listening to it - DAB I think but possibly
also streaming from a USB dongle

But I have realised now that it has been turning off, it has switched to Bluetooth (with nothing there so just appeared off).

Happened again this morning, took the radio through from the bedroom and
left running on battery (which should have been fully charged though
nothing to indicate charge state) and after a few minutes it went quiet
    - had switched itself to Bluetooth.

As I commented before I like sound quality from the 95i but it is very
    poorly designed.
