• dying links - due to heat?

As I often do, I have news channel on in the background. I wouldn't say
I'm paying attention to it, but the sound of a dying audio link - or,
sudden silence in conversation when they lose someone - does grab my
    attention.

I get the feeling that more such dyings than usual are happening today (ironically, one of them was actually someone discussing the weather).
Anyone else getting the same impression?

    No.
Have you ever managed to watch TV without finding something to complain
    about?

    Yes!

I wasn't complaining here: I was saying "there seem to be more links
being lost today than is usually the case - perhaps due to the weather conditions". How is that a complaint?

If mankind minus one were of one opinion, then mankind is no more
justified in silencing the one than the one - if he had the power -
would be justified in silencing mankind.
