    He's arguably had the worst series of all England's batsmen, especially
    if you take his drops into account, ahead of (or should that be
    "behind"?) even Pope and Jamie Smith. But, oddly, England have no
    reserve opener in their squad so, unless they wanted to draft in someone
    from the Lions, they had no real choice but to stick with him.

    I'm no fan but it's clear with his poor form, his poor fielding and
    his drinking that he probably needs to be far away from a cricket
    pitch, at least an ashes one.
    It's like watching a drowning man scramble to shore only to be chucked
    back in by the life guard and told to drown less.
