For those who have Sky, I see that Sky are covering a Championship game
next week. I'll be astonished if the game isn't Surrey v Notts. With two
games to play Surrey lead Notts by just one point, so whichever side
wins is highly likely to finish the season as Champions. But whether the weather so unsettled, a draw must be pretty likely, so that it will go
    down to the wire.

BTW, I'll be away on holiday from the 26thSeptember to the 5th October.
And there's a chance that I might not be posting for longer than that,
as my PC seems to be on its last legs and I may be forced to replace it.

Well, a draw it was not! One of the most exciting CC matches
for ages, bearing in mind both the scores and the significance. Good
that it went the right way in the end, and that it was settled on
the pitch rather than by the weather.

Burglars please note! Apart from that, have a good time, John.

Congratulations to Notts, for whom a draw at home to Warwickshire next
    week should now be enough.

Meanwhile Somerset's campaign ended where it began: not quite managing
to finish off their opponents. Another three wickets over those two
matches would have seen them push Notts all the way. Leach returned the old-fashioned figures of 49.5-33-40-2, while Vaughan took 6-96 (9 each
    for the match).

Congratulations to Notts, who now seem to have the title in the bag.

I've been offline for a while, as my PC died on the 15th. As it was 11
years old, it wasn't worth getting it repaired, so I bought a shiny new machine running Windows 11. Getting everything configured snd working
took a while, and on Friday I will be disappearing again for an eight
day holiday. A lot seems to have happebed in the cricket world while I
was away, with the T20s against Ireland, the announcement of the England
squad for the Ashes, and the deaths of John Jameson and Dickie Bird - RIP.

Thanks on their behalf, but I'm not counting chickens! Just
takes a barring collapse, a Surrey win, and a few points deducted and
    who knows what could happen.

I suppose a batting collapse could be even worse.

They've all hatched now, as bonus points turned out to be enough.
There's just the second relegation place to be decided now.
