I'm away now until Tuesday. It's our 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday
so we're having a few days in the Lake District. I hope you all have a
    great weekend.

Thank you Ken, a bit rainy on the drive over, and just as we got to
where we were stopping one of the windscreen wiper blades broke off!

Fortunately I was able to nip into Halfords in Kendal the next day and
get a couple of new ones fitted.

The rest of the weekend was absolutely georgeous. Saturday we went for a cruise on Lake Windermere, Sunday a trip into Morcambe, and Monday a
trip to The World of Beatrix Potter, which was really interesting.

You couldn't fit it yourself? I believe Halfords charge about -u5 for
wiper blades, which contrasts with the -u50 for installing a new battery!
Ten minutes work at most, as I demonstrated last week when my
girl-friend's battery went dead. Plus Halfords was -u30 more expensive
    for the battery.

Always use your local car shop if there is one. That is where I bought
the battery and in the past they have insisted on fitting new wiper blades.

Sounds good. Did you do the ferry across Windermere to the Beatrix
Potter house? How long was the queue?

Sadly, I can't, I've tried unsuccessfully in the past. Yes, I paid more
for the blades (decided to get them both done) and -u9 to have them
fitted, but for me it was -u38 well spent, job sorted and not have to
worry if there was any more rain. You'll be pleased to know I can change
    a battery though :-)

I usually do, and agree with you on pricing.

We were on the right side of the lake to Beatrix, but a ferry ride would
have been great. We only queued for 10 minutes, so not bad at all.

Of course it does depend on exactly how the blades are fitted on your
car, but these days they seem to have standardised to a large degree.

The broken blade he unclipped the bracket no problem, but he struggled
with the other side and had to get his colleague to help him.

Sorry Ken, I misunderstood your comment, I thought you meant did we
queue up to go into Beatrix Potter

The approach road to the ferry actually has markers warning you that you
will have to wait x number of minutes or even y number of hours!

    https://www.google.com/maps/place/Windermere/@54.3550908,-2.9258327,3a,19.5y,252.76h,88.33t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sinYFZHilB8wnuvATCgbdhw!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fcb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26pitch%3D1.6709427029857977%26panoid%3DinYFZHilB8wnuvATCgbdhw%26yaw%3D252.75820580743934!7i16384!8i8192!4m6!3m5!1s0x487c934574be0139:0xd17f1c1611bb5b79!8m2!3d54.380685!4d-2.906785!16zL20vMDIxcWxq?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDYyMi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

The blue sign warns that the ferry queue at that point is approximately
    one hour long.
