I came across this poem today. It's from a few years ago but I think
it's quite apt in our modern day culture and the hate towards those of different colour or creed.

This guy has recently appeared on Britains Got Talent and got an
incredible reception from the the judges and the audience, which is how
I got to know about him, but I hadn't realised until today he is a
    Christian.

Thanks for sharing that, John. We need more people like him. Maybe I'll
try to keep to that adage, "If you can't think of anything nice to say
to people, say nothing." Maybe we should all try that!

I liked his closing point when his doggerel was over, that Christianity
has not been destroyed in Britain by Muslims but by English people
    forsaking their faith.

Yes, it was a good point. There isn't the same expectation now to go to
church as there was before the 60's. Parent's took their kids to church
and in turn they took their kids etc. As that has declined I think
people only go to church because they want to, rather than it being
    expected of them.

That said, the moral fibre* of the nation was so much better, so maybe
the two go hand in hand.

*I'm no saint in that respect. I do have moral values in some things but
    I choose what they are.

I'm not perfect by any means, but it's certainly something I try to do,
except when I'm debating with Ken ;)

Heh! Yes, as you can see, I've given up banging my head against a brick
    wall. ;)

My shoulders are broad - and I welcome robust debate.

Yes, that is the plus side of declining church attendance. The downside
is that unless you are in church, you are not exposed to religion and
    atheism becomes the default position.

I have no doubt that they do. Spending an hour or two each week hearing
an exhortation to live a moral life and to be surrounded by people
agreeing that a moral life is a good thing, can only be beneficial.
These days people's only moral guidance comes from the TV, which tends
    to glorify sex and violence.
