I can't upload any photos from my Applemacbook pro to Facebook. I've looked on previous articles and find that the option under photos/preferences/ shows the option to "use as system library" is greyed out and nothing I do will alter it. all my photos ar eon the machine, but there is no way to transfer them to FB. I'm getting totally fed up with computers not doing something they are designed to do simply. everything is over-complicated. I am over 65 and am fed up with technology. What is the easy way to fix the problem apart from smashing the computer to pieces?

In the meantime, a workaround is to export the photos to a folder first, then attach them to facebook from there. Select the ones you want, then file>export choose the size and quality you want (large or medium are good for facebook) click export again, then choose the folder.
No matter what I try I can't copy anything on to here. I've clicked on the desktop screen shot, to "copy image" then nothing. tried to paste it on here, nothing. Click on the icon you suggested, nothing. I'm at my wits end with this bloody computer. I've been on it since mid January trying to restore the 30, 000 songs on my music library that Apple lost in the cloud! Now this majorr problem with a simple task copying a pic to facebook is just too much to bear.
I have a Macbook Pro 2013 retina display 15'' and this problem has been bugging me for a while. My macbook can't get on Facebook. I have tried clearing all the cookies and website data but it doesn't work. Trying open DNS. It is not just safari. It doesn't work on any browser like Chrome and Firefox or any macbook account in that computer. It doesn't work with any wifi. Occasionally, if i switch to a new place with a new wifi, Facebook might magically work for a short while but that might be because that place has a vpn. The only time it works is when I have my vpn on. I remember I have something safari says about invalid certificate before Facebook ceased loading. It just totally won't load at all now.
I managed to get logged in with a username I found on the account pages, which has nothing to do with my Facebook account (as far as I'm aware), seems pointless connecting my facebook account to a spotify account, and not being able to log in to the application via the spotify application using my facebook username and password. I think there might be a setting somewhere that allows me to use my facebook account and not this numberical username that has been generated but If try figure it out later. Just thought that might be the case for you?
This may unique to my case, but I had exactly this problem today. My Macbook Pro (OSX 10.9.4) started to not connect to anything except google and facebook. No other websites worked. This happened at home and it happened with both wireless and ethernet connections. I took the computer into my office thinking it might be my home ISP, but same problem at the office. Then I remembered that yesterday I reinstalled a Cisco VPN client. As soon as I uninstalled it, everything started to work again - both in my home and office, wifi and ethernet.
Hmmm. Very interesting. I don't do much video calling, but would mostly use it for messaging. What is wrong with the way it works? Can you describe the app layout?
Back when I had my very first Macbook pro, I remember using Adium, and absolutely loved it. That was an amazing way to use fb chat. Sadly it stopped working some time ago, and I don't know if they ever bothered to try and get it working again as for some time, the Messages app also supported it. But then facebook killed off a certain api that allowed third party services to connect to the chat. Messenger on the iPhone and iPad works okay, but I would much rather do a lot of that on the mac when I get it. And not having facebook site actually open to do it is pretty nice, as fb has gotten rather bloated over the years.
