Isn't it strange that this hot weather has brought out the use of the
phrase 'I's like a TINDERBOX' when nobody has the slightest idea what a tinderbox is!?

If this gets noticed, everybody says "groupthink" at the same time.

There are several cases where people don't seem to know what they're
taking about. The one that always annoys me is organisations saying
"only a few bad apples" like it was an excuse, without any idea of what actually happens when apples go bad.

Also, when did anybody "vow" to fix a problem, apart from in the
    headlines ?

George Carlin's stand-up act would often address the
language / idioms to great effect.

"Vow" is a good headline word. Short.
It's crap, but it _is_ short.
