I just read a post by Tone's brother on one of the canal forums.
Apparently his body was found a couple of days ago near his campervan.
Sad but surely not unexpected with all the health problems he used to
    report.

Nobody could ever have accused arTone of not leading life to the very
fullest right to the very end. I will remember him for that and a
whole lot more. And God's radio station is about to get a whole, new

Yesterday's news about arTone knocked me sideways. It shouldn't have come
as a surprise given his general state of health. I have been recalling some
of the tales he told, of his time with the grey funnel line on aircraft carriers, his exploits as a lorry driver, his folk singing, moving into sheltered housing and battling with the management. He bought a small drone
at some stage but lost it in unexplained circumstances. In later years he
had a trailer attached to his motor home so that he could tow his mobility scooter behind when he visited music festivals. I listened to his radio
show from time to time: it was always entertaining.
    I shall miss him muchly.

RIP Tone! I didn't actually know him, but felt that I did.

Saddening, but at the same time sadly joyful: here's one of his more recent poems that I pinched off the screen in 2024. As always, "nailing" our collective situation in life, and also giving good advice:

    Senior Moments

Whilst sorting my laundry I felt a bit peckish
I made me a sandwich and ate it with relish
But how did my underpants get in the fridge?
Are trolls attacking from under their bridge?
Things became clearer when at last I saw
A tin of spam sat in my underpants draw

Says a note on my door, rCyPhone, wallet and keys!rCO
But then I donrCOt read it, and forget these
    At six-fifteen I awake with a yawn
In my chair, but is it evening or dawn?

I lost my glasses that were on my head
All night, after reading a novel in bed
And that strange occasion that first bothered me
When wanting milk, I put coke in my tea

I was quite worried that my brain was undone
But then senior moments can sometimes be fun.
When boating thererCOs something that I came to know
If your engine breaks down, just go with the flow.

Very much my thoughts. I only saw this a couple of days ago and drove within
a couple of miles of his last address in York this morning. A couple of times I had tried to organise a visit but it never came to pass.

I'd listened to quite a few radio shows as well.

    RIP Tone.
