Yesterday, as we'd had such a hot, dry week last week, we took
the cushions for our hanging sofa out of the Shed and set them out.
We had visitors so we didn't even find time to sit on them.

Today, in celebration of the first day of Summer, it is raining and
Mrs S has brought the damp cushions into the house. They are now
piled in my corner of the living room next to the french doors to the
garden, where I lurk when not properly enShedded. It is my pShed.

Thus the Law of Sod is honoured and the Universe is again in balance.

You have special furniture to use whilst watching an execution?

Knitting needles too. Mr Pierrepoint's Long Drop is less entertaining
than a traditional Hang-Draw-Quarter dispatch though, and a lot less
gory than the WOCAB's Mme Guillotine. Still, we must find our fun
    where we may.

Fun Fact: The length of slack rope used in a long drop hanging depends
on the body weight of the hangee. It must be long enough so that the
neck is broken but not so long as to completely pull the head off of the
body. It seems that that was what happened to one of Saddam's lads.
IMO that's rather bad form but it's somewhat more amusing and it saves
the bother of having a screw swing from the deceased dangler's legs to
make sure that he's definitely expired.

Glad that the lethal injection executions have resolved all

In the bad old days of the Tyburn Tree, it was often family members
    hanging onto the legs.

There's a pub in Edinburgh in the Grassmarket called "The Last Drop" ; a
    nice little pun.

"During the 18th century, the area around our building was also home to
one of the cityrCOs main gallows, with crowds regularly gathering to
watch public executions. Rumour has it that our pub is where men who had
been sentenced were taken for their last meal while the gallows across
the road were prepared for them. As they left the pub, they were given
one last whisky, referred to as rCyone for the roadrCO. Our name, The
Last Drop, refers to the last hanging held in the Grassmarket in 1864"

There was a sign in there reading "No hanging around the bar"

In York (old?) there is/was a couple of pubs owned by the York Brewery <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/York_Brewery> called:

The last drop & The Three Legged Mare (A special 3 sided gibbet)

Their best beer - to my taste - was Centurion's Ghost - nice dark, strong
    & warming
