• Film Scanners

I scan a lot of film, both 35mm and 120 (in various forms but mostly
    6x6 and 6x4.5). Usually B&W but again I can develop C41 and E6 (I have
several bulk boxes of 35mm Velvia).

I currently use an Epson V550 with VueScan. This is getting a bit long
in the tooth and it's quality (exposure, focus etc.) is not great.

I also have an Plustec Opticfilm 8200i but I don't like it as it only
does one 35mm frame at a time and can't take 120.

What film scanners would you use?

Incidentally, I don't have a digital SLR so don't want to go down that
scanning road unless it can be automated and gives much higher quality
    results.

This question has been prompted by Vuescans settings going haywire (now
sorted) and giving me a bunch of really shit scans - it got me thinking
on what I can spend money on next...

Canoscan FS4000US with Vuescan here - haven't used it in quite a while
though. It's 35mm only. For larger formats sir needs a drum scanner.

<warning: historic waffle - no useful info in this post>

This query prompted me to check out my own film scanner - which last
worked fine under Windows7. It is a Maplin Model N16JA which did
everything I want it to at the time - but Ubuntu Linux doesn't recognise
it. It came with ArcSoft something - which I never used but employed
    trusty PaintShopPro8 instead :-)

My day to day scanner is an ancient Epson Perfection 1250 which came
with a film and slide scanner attachment which I have never felt the
need to replace - and which *does* work under Ubuntu - so that's all
    right then :-)

    For now...

    Same here...

I bought a Plustek OpticFilm 8200i a couple of years ago to do a
bunch of scanning of some of my 35mm B&W and color negatives for the
occasion of my mother's 100th birthday (and a few months later for
a slide show for her celebration of life). It came with a couple of
Windows programs to do scanning, I probably did a couple of hundred
negatives at the most and it's been sitting mostly idle since.

I really should offload it to #2 child who has taken up an interest
    in film photography.
