Home.
Me too
and me after a further week away in Troyes, Chartres and an overnight
boat from Le Havre. Just shy of 1300 miles.
Great to see old faces and a couple of new ones. Average age
was about 90, mind.
+1 and +1
+2 & +2
Lots of drinking, as per usual. I (probably amongst others) didn't
realise that most of the beers we were drinking on Friday came from
Belgium and had an average strength of 8.5%. Jeez.
Yersh. I made that mistake too. For the first pint in the first pub
on the first night (Thursday in St Omer), I picked one (from the 15+
pumps) that looked very 'blonde', only to taste it and find it really
rather chewy. Turned out to be 8+%
I was a tad wobbly after 4x50cl of those and a shitload of red wine with dinner on the Fruday
Unlike, someone, I was not very hungover Saturday so did not spend the
day sleeping on a park bench.
Horrendous bloody weather, which only calmed down (for me) when I
got off the A34 onto the A4.
we headed SW to Troyes and had rain for under an hour, then sunshine for
the rest of the day
a couple of very wet mornings in Troyes so did not ride. Explored the cathedral and a couple of museums. Drank lots of beer
Lovely ride on D roads to Chartres. Sunny all 3 days, so one day riding
around the Perche park and a day exploring the cathedral etc.
Very warm 24C ride to the coast losing the Brooms. A blustery sailing on
the tiny Commodore Clipper with lots of loud waves crashing about so an unsettled night.
Ride home today was hard work, mostly ridig into a very cold, blustery
NE headwind up the A34 & M40. Came off the motorway and routed home via Bridgnorth which was much better and the sun started to shine.
I know you live in Paris, but my mind insists that you were somewhere
near Newbury :-)
I'll write up my trip separately...
