• Scrap motorcycle collection

    From Eddie@eddie@deguello.org to uk.rec.motorcycles on Thu Apr 9 15:31:51 2026
    From Newsgroup: uk.rec.motorcycles

(Hello? Is this thing on? I've been busy with work and riding bicycles
and stuff. A quick scan of the threads suggests I haven't missed much.)

Anyway: anybody had a motorcycle collected for scrap recently and can recommend a company that will do it?

We got a CG125-a-like for free from a neighbour. It's been kept for
years as an insurance placeholder, but it's just getting in the way now
and I'd rather have the garage space. It snapped the swing arm pivot
bolt last time it was used, and it leaked petrol over the garage floor
some time later. I think it's fair to say that it's not worth repairing.

I guess I could just leave it outside the gates and see how long it
takes to disappear, but there's a danger that it might get recovered and
    we'd need to collect it.

FB Marketplace ad, it'll be gone real quick, as someone will think they
    can revive it.

If you bung it on eBay, 99p start with no reserve, then someone will
    have it.

Sure, it will mean dealing with eBay fuckwits, but there could be
anything up to ninety-nine sweet UK pence in it for you.

I'd suggest your local Freecycle/Freegle but that has its share of
chumps who expect free delivery, as well as not paying anything.

Managed to get all sorts of stuff removed that way before the great
    house downsizing operation.
