I've been looking for a new helmet, the Arai SZ-R that I like the look
of is not available in the UK, I thought about getting one in France/Belgium/NL on the French run, but they are far more expensive
    than I had hoped.
Off to Sportsbikeshop yesterday, after ordering a couple of helmets in
[1], to try on. The Airoh Adventure helmets have had some good reviews,
but didnt fit me well - far too tight on my cheeks. One of the open
faces they do was a good fit, then I noticed another open face sat on
the shelf, it looked really good quality, lush inside, a soft leather
feel. The make was 'Dexter' / DXR. Never heard of it before, it's Sportsbikeshops own brand label. It was a perfect fit, I dont think Ive
ever felt a helmet that was just right like this was - my last Arai open
face was good, but not as good a fit as this one was.
So I bought it, at the ridiculously cheap price of -u60. Yes, I know you,
sort of, get what you pay for, but this seems to be a really good helmet
    - used it today for 5 miles, no excessive wind noise, it just works well.
My last 4 or 5 helmets have all been in the -u400+ range, so this is
somewhat of a shock to find a helmet so good for so little cash.
They also do a full face carbon shell for -u200.

[1] If it isnt in stock in one of their stores, they will get it next
day to that store, so you can try it. No paymnet/card details required.

Seems to be a French brand, not an SBS brand, from Motoblouz.

Dexter Soddy - amusing name, as are some of the other models, Eros and
    Izoard.

Does wearing a Dexter helmet turn you into a murderous vigilante?

If you open the "manufacturer" row then:

    "About DXR Helmets

DXR Helmets was founded in France in 2010..."

Polycarb, which will lower the price, but still.

    Approval: ECE 22.06

not sure it matters too much now

there used to be a weight penalty using plastic but the more recent
polymers seem to be the same weight, with ny new thermoplastic Nolan being slightly lighter than the Shoei Neotec is replaces.

    4/5

I paid under u200 as it was a 2024 colour and Devitt gave me a 10% SBS
    voucher when I bought insurance.

No DXR/Dexter helmets tested by SHARP

I was thinking more in terms of longevity: polycarb helmets used to have
a reputation for a shorter life than fibre ones.

possibly, my original Neotec is 10 years old and still useable but rather scruffy and has a scratched visor that has not been replaceable for a long time.

there again, a new Neotec 3 is the best part of u600 so when you factor in value for money ...
