• Street tree questions

    Just out of curiosity: here on Tyneside I have noticed the increase in
    the planting of Lime trees. This is not a tree I would have expected to
    see in my youth when the norm was Sycamore, although Ash, Elm and Copper
    Beech were around.
    Is this because of Dutch Elm Disease re3ducing the options, as it
    started before Ash Die-back (I think)?
    Are resistant Elms being planted now?
    I had never seen Plane trees on the kerbside until I moved to Nottingham
    in the 60's. I believe that's because they shed their bark and pollution
    with it, but you never see them up here.

    An underhand council policy against on-street parking.?
    No one wants to regularly park under lime trees because of the aphid
    droppings

    Possibly. Presonally I love a good linme tgree byt cabt remeber if thats
    the one that leaves stucky all over a car parked underneath

    After many years of 'grow to 15 ', have a few seeds then die' the latest
    wild elms in my hedge are now at 25 feet and not dying.

    I thibk the beetles all died
