Just out of curiosity: here on Tyneside I have noticed the increase in
the planting of Lime trees. This is not a tree I would have expected to
see in my youth when the norm was Sycamore, although Ash, Elm and Copper Beech were around.
Is this because of Dutch Elm Disease re3ducing the options, as it
started before Ash Die-back (I think)?
Possibly. Presonally I love a good linme tgree byt cabt remeber if thats
the one that leaves stucky all over a car parked underneath
Are resistant Elms being planted now?
After many years of 'grow to 15 ', have a few seeds then die' the latest
wild elms in my hedge are now at 25 feet and not dying.
I thibk the beetles all died
I had never seen Plane trees on the kerbside until I moved to Nottingham
in the 60's. I believe that's because they shed their bark and pollution
with it, but you never see them up here.
They ain't called 'London Plane' fer nuffink :-
