I have a small (2m) Fremontodendron rCyCalifornia GloryrCO. The hairs on the leaves and stems don't bother me, but the plant flowered really well
this year and for the first time had at least a couple of dozen
decent-looking seed pods. These looked promising, so I decided to pull a
few off and open them up to see if there were viable seeds inside.
Bad mistake! The fruits are quite hard and covered in stiff, needle-like
hairs which penetrate skin easily, even hard skin on fingertips. It took
some time to get out most of them, but even two or three hours later I
could still feel a few. At least I got a few dozen seeds in
compensation. I hope they're viable!
