• Hanging basket plants from seed?

    Hello,

I have a number of hanging baskets to fill, but a limited budget and don't have easy access to a local plant nursery. Can anyone suggest plants that
can be raised reliably from seed, suitable for hanging baskets? Something which doesn't need bottom heat, nor specialist heated propagators to germinate?

We have an unheated polytunnel, with staging, a cold frame, and I have
some space on my home windowsills. We have access to seed trays, and
modules, with covers, or I can make makeshift covers from plastic
sheeting. Unfortunately, we don't have access to sufficient straw, nor
manure to attempt a "hot bed" arrangement.

We have some trailing pelagoniums, which I'll be attempting to take
cuttings, and ivy which I'll divide and re-pot. Most other things from
    last year's baskets look dead.

Nasturtiums and sweet peas have worked reasonably well in the past, but
more variety would be welcome. It is relatively mild here (for the UK),
    but can be windy.

    Thanks,

Ah, it looks as though I may be buying a small window sill heated
    propagator.
