Got one of these X-overs driving my modified LS5/8.

RH LF output has developed a hiss/crackle. When I first heard it thought
it was rain outside. So beneath the wanted audio, level wise, but very annoying.

Mute all (inputs and outputs) makes no difference to this noise. And there
does appear to be more hiss than usual on the MF and HF. And the other
    three outputs.

So wondering if it is on a PS rail? When the mutes don't kill it? Can't
    find a schematic for it.

It's quite a pricey item (for Beyringer) Anyone recommend a decent repair place? I'll have a look inside for any obviously popped caps etc, but
since it's likely surface mount stuff about my limit, fault finding wise.

Matter of course with Behringer. Replace all the electrolytic caps in
the power supply with decent ones. Nichicon, Rubycon and Panasonic
will be the ones to go for.

    ** Google " DCX2496 frying noise ".

It's a common fault due to a bad ribbon cable and or lack of insulation under one of the PCBs.

How is it powered. I find anything powered by USB directly from a puter is incredibly noisy. A separate good quality psu usually is a good move.

** The Behringer unit is built into a 1RU box with a decent size SMPS module outputting +5V and +/-15VDC.

Some with nothing better to do might remember I had a problem with one of these. It's an active three way speaker crossover. Started hissing and crackling on all outputs - and the mutes made no difference.
It was confirmed to be most likely the power supply - so changed all the
caps. Which sorted it. For about a few months. Now back again - same
fault. Most likely problem is the +/- 15v rails feeding the balanced
    output stages?
I'd found a schematic for the unit online, but didn't include the PS. So
did some more Googling and found that in an article on upgrading it. So
I've ordered up the parts needed to do this.
Another article said it might be overheating. There are no vents to the
case - but it's hardly a high current unit. And in my case not near
    anything that gets hot.

Other thing that was said is Behringer use crap caps - branded XUNDA. But
the replacements I used were all Panasonic FM series.

What I didn't do was replace the ceramics in parallel with the caps on the outputs of the two 15v regs. So will do this time.

The article on updating showed some impressive improvements in ripple and
noise on the PS rails. So hoping that makes things better - the unit did
add some noise to the power amps.
