I had the RSV jab a week ago and have the flu and covid ones next week.
Which set me off, wondering what an RSV jab was, and why I couldn't
remember having it, or having an invite to have it...
It said, those between 75 and 79, should have had an invite, but I don't remember one, so I've just rung my GP, who first suggested I wasn't eligible, then worked out I'd had it last year, in September, and so
didn't need it - it's a one-off jab.
I must have had it alongside something else, maybe the shingles jab, for
me to not remember it?
I had an invitation to have an RSV jab last year, so I looked up what
RSV is:
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of coughs and colds.
RSV infections usually get better by themselves, but can sometimes be
serious for babies and older adults.
Further down the text it mentioned protection against bronchial problems
and I am considered extremely vulnerable to Covid because a heart
problem some years ago left me with some blood clots in the arteries in
my lungs. So having the jab was a no brainer, and I had the RSV jab
with my flu jab in September 2024.
I seem to remember that the other jab on offer in 2024 was the
pneumococcal one for protection against hepatitis.
