    Last night was the start of the fourth series of the new Van der Valk. I
    keep comparing to the original with Barry Foster. Barry had a certain
    charisma in that part, where the new version with actor Marc Warren
    seems to be lacking any empathy with the new Van der Valk character.

    Anyone else feel the same?

    If only the original had access to HD video recording.

    The current series shares the title of the Thames "Van Der Valk".

    Little else.
