Cheers! I only discovered Astrid quite recently and it somewhat
fills the gap left by Inspector Montalbano, better than Brokenwood
with its rather trite scripts does anyhow.

I've watched by "cough" other means and still think it's great but after
the first series they got into the rapid dialogue that US series seem to
    use.

This is fine if French is your first language but as a non speaker I
sometimes ran out of time to read the subtitles.

I always record it. If I miss something I just replay it, if necessary
in slo-mo to read everything in the subtitles (one of my dislikes of
streaming - there is no slo-mo, although it is possible to pause the
    stream).

I see that the producers have started to lengthen each episode to 75
minutes. This extra time appears to have nothing to do with the
increasing bizarre crimes, but is spent on Astrid's neurodivergence. To
my mind, Sara Mortensen's acting is nothing short of award standard in
this series, and she is ably supported by Lola Dewaere. I hope that
More4 shows Series 4, which is already being shown on French TV.

I'm not so sure about this, though: <https://www.gralon.com/articles/news-and-media/television/article-tv-series--soon-a-crossover-between-the-shows--alexandra-ehle--and--astrid-et-raphaelle--13683.html>

Looks to me as though "Alexandra Ehle" is a sort of French "Silent
Witness", but I can't see it being shown in the UK.

Cough, and is available by other means, should you wish to search.

The subs can be a bit weird in places but fine if you speak French,
    which I don't.

For anyone interested, the new series starts on More 4 at 2100 on this
    coming Friday (24th).

I've been watching the Belgian-UK version "Patience" (2100 Wednesdays
and Thursdays) on Channel 4. It's not bad as the writers have taken care
to make Patience's autism of a somewhat lesser degree that Astrid's. It
would probably be thought a lot better if it was original, but the
French version is just too good.

I'm not sure that johnny public could cope with 'more' autistic. I think
it's quite brave for 4 to show it at all. It will be interesting to see
the viewing figures after the first episode. It's a bit like 'autism for beginners', but personally I don't see that as a bad thing. Using a
young, blonde cannot do any harm either.

    Which series is that?
We've watched all four up until now, series 5 is currently airing in
    France.
    A great series brilliantly acted.

We watched the first episode and cancelled the series link, not a patch
    on the French one.

It would be very difficult to come anywhere near to Sara Mortensen's performance.
