Apparently, Dolly wrote "Jolene" on the same night as "I will always
love you", which I think is the highest selling song (sung by different artists).

    RIP Dolly.

    Long live Jolene!

(Still not got round to sorting sig, but you know it's me, don't you?)

    Likewise.

I never really got into her music but always suspected that she was a
good'un. So it didn't surprise me at all to read in the obituaries
    about her charitable work.

    Goodbye Dolly.

Wouldn't surprise me. The _most recorded_ used to be Yesterday, though I
think My Way [Comme d'habitude, So leb dein Leben] must come close, but
IWALY could well be the highest selling.

They're talking of her having sold 100,000; that compares very
favourably with Nana's 300 to 400k, given N did it over 40-50 years and
in multiple languages; given Dolly only (AFAIK) sang in English, and in
    one genre, it's pretty impressive.

There is (as is usual from him) a nice tribute from Steve Rosenberg at https://x.com/BBCSteveR/status/2092358769392943232 .

    RIP Dolly.

    Long live Jolene!

Indeed! I consider that, and TW's SBYM, to be the supreme classics of
    the genre.

    Goodbye Dolly.

I see what you did there!

I was a country music fan, still am. R.I.P from me too.

I had a (youngish) landlady who was very fond of country, loud and late,
so I wasn't really; however, many of Dolly's are catchy tunes regardless
    of being country.

I've known about the books project for years and can only think I was told
by someone in the US as I'm not one of her fans.
